NUNOZOME

Introduction of my works NUNOZOME NUNOZOME is a special technic that is cutting a nonwovenfiber in accordance with one’s desired motif, and placing it on the base ceramic material and dripping a pigment which pre-dissolved in water to have the pigment soak through thenonwoven fiber onto the base ceramic material.. The most significant feature of this technic is, by piling the surface of one material on top of the other surface which can create even more unique shape of pattern which enable to express the impression of transparency.

Roots of My Works

In school days, I have traveled to AMAMI Island which is located in further South-West of one of Japan’s main lands, Kyushu. I was amazed and deeply impressed with the unforgettable beauty of the sea and forest seen at that time.  This experience is the origin of the designs and patterns I started to apply to my works, such as the fish and plants which you can see from my works now.

Also, in my boyhood, I often go fishing.  To record the figures of fish I made fish print, which is called “GYOTAKU” in Japanese. To make a fish print, the fish was painted in black ink, and was placed on a Japanese paper called “WASHI” and was pressed against the paper to transcribe the figure. I learned a fish printing method there.

Principle of my Work

I always place an importance when producing my works with:

 Originality, Beautiful Shape and Dignity

And I wish to make things which remain even the passage of time.

My works are produced based on the principle thoughts.
